Need your South African birth certificate authenticated for use overseas? We can manage the birth certificate application in South Africa and arrange the apostille stage as part of the same case, with international delivery available once complete.
An apostille is a form of authentication used so that a South African public document can be recognised for official use in another country where the relevant apostille arrangements apply.
If the organisation receiving your birth certificate has asked for the document to be apostilled, authenticated or legalised, obtaining the birth certificate is only the first stage. The completed certificate must then move through the appropriate authentication process.
With SA Docs, you do not need to receive the certificate overseas and then work out how to send it back into another South African process. Where an apostille is required, we can arrange the next stage before the completed documents are sent to you.
Not every country, authority or application requires an apostille. If you are unsure, create an SA Docs account and show us what the receiving authority has requested. We will listen to your requirements and help guide you towards the appropriate route.
Create an account and ask us →If you already know that the authority receiving your document requires a South African birth certificate with an apostille, you can start the entire journey through one SA Docs account.
We collect the information required for the birth certificate application first. Once the certificate has been obtained, the apostille stage can follow before your completed documents are prepared for international delivery.
Remember to allow for both stages: 4–6 weeks is the target for the fully managed birth certificate service, with up to an additional 10 working days for the apostille process.
