Need your South African marriage certificate while living overseas? Apply online and let us manage the South African process for you, including Home Affairs follow-up, optional apostille and worldwide delivery.
A South African marriage certificate can be required when you need to prove your marriage or civil status for an official process outside South Africa. Common reasons include citizenship, immigration, residency, foreign marriage registration, legal matters and other government or administrative requirements.
The document requested can depend on the authority dealing with your application. Some processes require the full South African marriage certificate, while others may specifically request an underlying marriage record or an authenticated certificate.
If you have been married more than once, the date and place of the relevant marriage are particularly important so that the correct marriage record can be identified.
If the receiving authority has also requested an apostille, this can be arranged after the marriage certificate is obtained. Allow up to an additional 10 working days for the apostille stage.
