You shouldn't need to understand Home Affairs, chase different organisations or fly back to South Africa just to obtain an important document. SA Docs gives you one secure place to start your case, provide information, communicate and follow progress.
The portal removes the email chains and uncertainty, but it does not replace the people managing your case. Each stage stays connected to one secure case history.
Choose a service if you already know the document required. If you are unsure, create your account and tell us what you are trying to achieve instead.
Provide the personal, civil-record and supporting information relevant to the service. Where paperwork or signed authority is required, your case guides you through what needs to be supplied.
Once the case is ready, the appropriate South African application, retrieval or follow-up process can begin and be managed locally on your behalf.
Home Affairs cases can require additional information, clarification or a different supporting record. Your case manager can raise the requirement against the existing case.
If the receiving authority requires an apostille or another authentication stage, it can be added after the underlying South African document is available.
Once the required South African stages are complete, tracked international delivery can be arranged to your destination.
Different document services have different processing routes. Where we have an established target, we show it clearly. Your SA Docs account then gives you one place to follow the case and respond if anything further is needed.
Our customer-facing target for the fully managed birth and marriage certificate service once a complete case is ready for processing.
Where you have already applied with Home Affairs and the existing application qualifies for the expedited route.
This is an additional stage after the underlying document is available and is separate from any document-retrieval timescale.
Instead of relying on scattered emails and WhatsApp messages, your account can show the progress of your case, hold messages and supporting information, and give you a clear place to respond when your case manager needs something from you.
